Dr. Delaney Patterson

DVM

Dr. Delaney Patterson grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. She was a horse enthusiast and 4-H kid from elementary school through high school. Her pets and 4-H projects included dogs, a guinea pig, rabbit, and llamas. She received a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut. While at UConn, she participated in IHSA as a Western Team member and submitted an Honors thesis in equine muscle biology. Prior to attending veterinary school, she was a research fellow at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in Indiana where she studied respiratory physiology of training thoroughbred racehorses.

Dr. Patterson received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri. She spent much of her clinical rotations learning from top equine veterinarians across the country. She worked with thoroughbreds in Ocala, FL, and Lexington, KY, and with a variety of equine athletes in Colorado and New England.

After veterinary school, Dr. Patterson completed a yearlong internship at New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center in Dover, New Hampshire. There she rotated between medicine, surgery, and field services while attending to both primary care and referral hospital cases. Her primary interests included lameness, surgery, ophthalmology, and emergency care.

Dr. Patterson is excited to see small and large animal patients as a mixed animal associate at SRH. She shares her home with her yorkie mix Oliver (“Ollie”) and enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, and traveling in her spare time.
